Design for a set of trophies for the annual Arts & Business Awards, that celebrate excellence in the field of cultural partnerships and sponsorship.

Once won, awards often gather dust on a shelf but attention to the cause shouldn’t stop there. What would an award look like that demands continued contemplation after the ceremony?

Role
Lead Designer

With
Louis Thompson

While at Thomas.Mathews we worked with the glassblower Louis Thompson. The collaboration resulted in beautiful bespoke glass vessels, each with a unique colour spectrum.

Contained within the glass awards are iron filings, a waste material salvaged from London Mechanical Lift Engineers – Pye London. These filings are attracted to a removable central magnet to create endless internal sculptures, an interactive process that constantly re-interprets the magnetic attraction between arts and business and how ongoing interaction allows exciting new developments to evolve.
